Knowing GOD requires 'living righteously'

  • Deut. 13:1 - 5
  • Ezek. 22:17 - E
  • Gal. 6:1 - 3
    • Gal. 5:16 - 17
  • Gal. 6:4 - 17
  • Eph. 5:1 - 25
NOTES:
  • (re: Deut 13): Israel, having just come from slavery in Egypt, and having just seen the miracles of their 'redemption',  should have 'known'  their GOD. The tablets should have reinforced their understanding of  HIS Holiness, Righteousness, and what was expected for their future. (They were also told of the consequences if they didn't live up to that expectation). So when God told them to acknowledge when a prophet tried to lead them away with signs and wonders, (miracles, or prophecies), from the GOD that redeemed them, they were to recognize exactly, explicitly that the prophet was a deceiver, a false prophet;  this required swift judgment: stoning!
  • (re: Ezek.22): Failing to abide by that, they became 'contaminated', no longer the 'chaste virgin', but a whore, murderers, ravening lions seeking whom they could 'devour'.
  • (re: NT passages):  "Knowing" GOD, requires LIving 'godly', separately, uncontaminated by the filth of the world, by the evil people do to destroy your faith.  Be separate;  don't  'mix in'.

17 May 2023 man, created in GOD's Image

Q:  per Gen. 1:27,  How was man created in GOD's image?

  •   Gen. 1:24 - 27
    • Ps. 8: ALL
    • Ps. 82: ALL
    • Ps. 9:1 - 9
      • John 5:5 - E
    • Ps. 9:7 - E
    • Ps. 10: ALL
    • Ps. 11: ALL
    • Ps. 102: ALL
    • Ps. 103:1 - 14
      • 1 Cor. 15:12 - 22, 35 - E
      • Rom 8:1 - 9
      • Is. 11:1 - 9
    • Rom. 8:7 - 23
    • 2 Cor. 5:1 - 10
These scripture passages indirectly answer the question that was raised; they seem to focus on the prior verse, (1:26).
To arrive at the answer, the first thing to remember is, GOD is "timeless", HE not bound by (our) time; or our clock, nor our calendar, nothing. And, while we know that v. 26 says: "...let us make man...", that 'timelessness' aspect of GOD impacts each and every person who has lived, who will live, and who is alive now, as an invitation to be a part of that 'new creation'.  As Paul says in his letter to the Corinthian church, '...we are workers together with HIM...' in our own lives, laboring to bring each of us, individually, to that perfect likeness of the son of Man, who is our example, our pattern.
Verse 27, (Gen. ch. 1) also bears that 'timelessness'.  HE, (even though it says "created man in HIS image..." (past tense),  HE is still working with us, (again, individually), revealing that pattern through HIS Word,  showing us who HE is, and what it means to be in HIS image, to become HIS son,, to be made perfect, and acceptable to HIM.   So that we can receive those robes of righteousness, on that day.
And even though Christ uttered, on the cross, "...it is finished,,,", HIS work is completed to make that way to become a 'son', we still need to 'see' what that perfect man is, and how we can diligently seek HIM.

How are we doing? read Joel. 3May23

  •  ALL of Joel
  • Jer. 17:1 - 11
  • Is. 55.1 - 3
Notes:
  • Jer. 17:5   '..Cursed is the man who puts his trust in the arm of man..."   This is  dire for everyone who ignores God; those who believe in a god they imagined, one who, they believe, will 'wink' at their evil, and not reward them for their doings.   "Warn them from me...'  and " God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance... for He is not slack concerning His promises..."  pay attention to what those promises are: reward evil for evil, good for good, (but HIS Definition of both those behaviors, not what we think they are)..
