Why this topic...
In John's book of his 'revelations', there is a phrase that has every Christian worried. That phrase seems to be about the future of the world's economy. We researched this notion, that God is involved in, or has any (vested) interest in any country's economy, to answer "what is 'buying and selling" about?
You can also hear the actual study as it was recorded, here, then look in the archive listing of all the recordings for the date contained in the brackets in the major outline points.
The 'BEAST', his MARK, = who, what?
Here's the path we took...
We first looked at the picture of the "beast".

Religion, in all of its aspects, has profaned Truth, creating ideas and lies contrary to the intent God has for the world. Israel was complicit in the corruption of God's Word, by leading themselves and the world into spiritual fornication. Hence the allegory of Israel being a harlot. They did not keep the oracles given on Mt. Sinai pure, they did not obey the spirit of the law, much less the letter of it. The rest of the world followed suit, and that's the reason Truth is so indiscernible. Everyone believes they have the truth, (if they believe there is 'truth'). Instead of Truth being so evident, so incontrovertible, it is bought and sold on every street corner, in every building man elevates as a place of knowledge, whether it be a church, or a university. This is what Scripture speaks about being bought and sold. In this light, the parable of buying eternity versus the whole world becomes real.
"What will a man give, in exchange for his soul..." or, "What profit is it, if a man gain the whole world and lose his soul..."
what comes to mind is buy of me gold tried in the fire, truth the word of God. not mans religious thoughts or ideas
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! That's the intended relationship He wants with every person. But, as Paul warns, 'don't take your business elsewhere'. He, alone, has the only commodity worth 'buying'.
