10Sept.2023: training up the youth

  •  Acts 1: ALL
  • Acts 2:1 - 21
    • Joel 2:28 - 29
  • Acts 2:22 - E
  • Acts 3:1- 21
    • Gen. 11:1 - 9
    • Gen. 22:1 - 14
    • Numbers 13: ALL
    • Numbers 14:1 - 16
    • Deut. 32:1 - 43
  • 1 Peter 3:13 - E  (If you listen to the recording, see notes below!)
  • 2 Peter 3:8 - E
  • Ps. 7: ALL
  • Prov. 13: ALL

  • Note:  In discussing 2P 2:21, Jordan used the term 'sign' referring to Baptism.   To clarify: The only entity that this would be a sign to, is GOD, but then, why does he need a physical sign.  HE doesn't, HE sees the thoughts and intents of each person's heart. Baptism is "OBEDIENCE" to the pattern set up throughout the OT, fulfilled by Christ, and commanded by Him to His Apostles. (Matt. 28:19; Mark 16:16; Luke 24:47!). But Peter didn't follow those records of what Christ 'said', on the day of Pentecost! Nor did any other Apostles, whose recorded instances of obedience by followers throughout the rest of the 'Acts of the Apostles' writing, veer from Peter's expression of the command.
  • The unmentioned situation, that of someone being baptized according to Peter's expression, and not living the new life, not 'dying' to the flesh, rather, remaining 'in bondage to sin',  is judged as if he were not, or, judged worse that someone who never was.  They have trodden the blood of the cross 'underfoot', done despite to the cross, and 'taken the name of the Lord, in vain'.
Reminder: Family night study on Saturday.
